Dwarven Expedition by PanzerTheTank Dwarven Expedition by PanzerTheTank
"I realized that frost doesn't work on machines during my adventures in a dwarven ruin..."
-Blisterwort-

I was making my way through Mzinchaleft with Blisterwort and at the end there was this Dwarven Centurion. Blisterwort specialize herself in frost magic and I thought it would slow it down, making it more easy to kill. Boy, I was wrong.

Blasted machines was immune against frost magic!

Blisterwort made it out alive with just a weak firespell and tons of health potion.(after 13 hours of horror and pain) Still a little shaken though.

XD excatly how I experience dwemer ruins. In the dragonborn dlc they had the ballista and that's where I quit doing quests involving dwemers

I realized frost didn't work on constructs when my chillrend hardly did any damage. I would suggest using dawnbreaker as its charge last a while.(and you can glitch and get two)

I did one of these once. My first try, I thought it was a statue. My second try, I failed at melee. Third try, I failed at hiding and running. Fourth try, I won hiding and arrow-shooting.
(Btw, I haven't played Skyrim in a long time, I don't remember what the stuff is called.

They are so friking strong and hard to kill. I lured one into a trap once and it killed him instantly, but when I shoot arrows or fireballs...snort...it's nothing. D:

That's the problem, I'm an archer, and they just don't die. Plus that steam-blowing thing? It's a bitch to deal with. The one in the main quest that you have to go through? Scarred me for life.

I found that if you hide and use a crossbow (Dawngaurd DOC) it is A LOT more affective, took me a few bolts (more like 10) but it's quicker to kill than with normal bows and arrows

Steam attack? I don't think I've ever noticed it. There actually is a helmet in the Dragonborn dlc that let's you use that attack.

Personally, I found that summoning worked wonders with centurions. I once let my flame atronachs go at it, and the thing just puttered around while it was being pelted with fireballs. It's like they can't recognize magic constructs, or something. Go figure.

Maahli (my Skyrim OC): Hey, maybe she should try a combination. Maybe she should specialize in Ice and Fire magic...with a sword just in case.
Me: How many times do you use that sword more than magic?
Maahli: 50-50
Me: Try 60-40 if not 70-30 of the time.

Haha, well my character are more role play characters and less DnD.

But they hate me none-the-less. One of mine broke the fourth wall just to get to me. I know that feeling where characters have been in deep because of a desire to entertain myself. Its done epically for mainly shading styles. Major envy here.

Once I was fighting a dwarven centurion master, and my arrows were hardly doing any damage. I was retreating up some stairs, and at the top I accidentally set off one of those spinning blade traps. The centurion walked right into it and all its health was gone in ONE HIT!

I use frost-enchanted weapons all the time, so I know how you feel 8| The fire breath dragon shout is also very useful ;) Great job on this pic; I knew exactly what was going on when I saw it (because I was the same way in my first dwarven ruin when I fought a centurion. I wasn't a very high level and had no follower, so the thing kept killing me.)

Blisterwort is not the dragonborn(in my head) so I have avoided the main quest.

Those things scares me more than the strongest dragons D: you see one and you're just waiting for it to move. DX I was lucky I had spared so much health potion and got a nice spot to shot my flames at it.

Mages tend to suffer against Dwemer Constructs, Destruction magic has only a limited affect on them and if you don't get the Perk, Illusion has no affect at all.

Conjugation works well, gives you room to breath and lets you get a few shots in, the best bet is to use Expert level Destruction Spells, they pack more than enough Umph for the job, Master Level spells just leave you wide open.

I know! I had to use some mods to make the destruction class work like it should :| and I really liked frost magic, then the dwemer came and ruined it XD

If I knew some conjuration spells during that time Blisterwort wouldn't have suffered. hahahaha XD I prefer the conjuration, alteration and illusion class in skyrim. (since destruction sucks)

Destruction in Skyrim with the right Perks is very effective, but boring, who wants to duel wield Firebolts all the time?

Hopefully some DLC will come out and Fix it, maybe something involving the Psyjic Order, those robes of theirs are very nice...

I don't use spells that much (they just don't work fast enough for me XD) so I don't know how you mages usually do it, but it might be useful to use flames/fireballs and a sheild. My god I spent the first twenty levels specializing with two-handed weapons and never blocking attacks from anything... it was such an eye-opener when I took a try at one-handed weapons and a sheild XD Also useful with the 'block arrows' perk because there are some Dwemer machines that shoot little firey darts.

Sorry for the late intrusion to this comment, but my current character uses a shield and one-handed destruction magic (try to avoid using weapons of any kind, I do. Still carry a dagger for when I'm out of magic). It's actually really effective if you can time your blocks and shield bashes. Doing so, I managed to stun-lock an ancient dragon and kill it pretty easily (also helps that I use heavy armor). The only thing is, if your only method of fighting things off is with magic, you might want to invest extremely heavily in magicka, partially ignore health, and almost forget stamina (especially if you have the Restoration perk Respite). If you don't and yet still choose to go with heavier armor, like I did, survival can be kind of difficult (that is, until I found the Atronach Standing Stone. Best. Thing. EVER).
